Sunday after getting home from Meadows, Barker was complaining
of a VERY intense headache. So intense that he was screaming
at the top of his lungs in pain and holding his head
while writhing on the floor. He then told us he didn't feel
very good and proceeded to throw up. He told us he
had crashed with another skier during his group lesson
and had had a headache ever since but it wasn't
very bad until right now... when we checked his pupils
one was larger than the other. So off to the Emergency
Department we went. Luckily, after throwing up, the
symptoms seemed to pass quickly. By the time the ER
doctor came in to check him for signs of a concussion, he
was mostly on his way back to normal. PHEW! We were told to watch
him closely and there was a stern recommendation of
no 'screens' over the next several days to weeks as
they have been shown to decrease healing time and cause more
damage after a head injury. We were just thankful he
is ok and that he bounced back so quickly.
Thank goodness he always wears a helmet!
(pupils back to normal - we've never been so happy to
see such 'normal' pupils!!)
